If Types

 

IF

If type	IF-clause	Main clause

*infinitive = ක්‍රියාපදයේ   මූලික අවස්ථාව

*model      = must, shall, will, should, would, can, could, may, and might.

·       If I study,            I will pass the exam.

මම පාඩම් කලොත් මම පාස් වෙයි.

·       If I studied,          I would pass the exam.

මම පාඩම් කලා නම් මම   පාස් වෙයි.

·       If I had studied,  I would have passed the exam.

මම පාඩම් කරලා තිබුනා නම් මට පාස් වෙන්න තිබුනා.

 

 

If type I

If you send this letter now, she will receive it tomorrow.

ඔයා මේ ලිපිය දැන් එව්වොත් ඇයට ඒක හෙට ලැබෙයි.

If I do this test, I will improve my English.

මම විභාගය කලොත් මම මගේ ඉංගී්‍රීසි දියුණු කරගනී.

If I find your ring, I will give it back to you.

මට ඔයාගෙ මුද්ද හම්බුනොත් මම ආපහු ඒක ඔයාට දෙන්නම්.

Kumudu will go shopping if she has time in the afternoon.

කුමුදු ශොපින් යයි ඇයට හවස වෙලාව තිබුනොත්.

Dinesh will go to London next week if he gets a cheap flight.

දිනේෂ් ලන්ඩන් යයි ලබන සතියේ ඔහුට  අඩුවට ෆ්ලයිට් 1ක් හම්බුනොත්.

I will be mad if Sachini is late again.

මට පිස්සු හැදෙයි සචිනි අයෙත් පරක්කු උනොත්.

If her boyfriend does not phone today, she will leave him.

ඇයගෙ පෙම්වතා අද කෝල්කලේ නැත්නම් ඇය ඔහුව අතහරියි.

If they do not study harder, they will not pass the exam.

ඔහුන් මහන්සිවෙලා පාඩම්කලේ නැත්නම් විභාගය අසමත් වේවි.

ඔයා බලාගෙන ඇවිද්දේ නැත්නම් ඔයා වැටෙන්නයි යන්නේ.

 

 

If and Adjectives (If type I)

විධිමත් කථනයේදී /රචනයේදී  සමහර අවස්ථාවන් හීදී IF ට පසුව   “subject + be” කොටස අතහැර දමයි.

If with model verbs (If part 1)

Model verbs    = must, shall, will, should, would, can, could, have to, be able to, may, and might

අවසර දීම් ,යෝජනා,උපදෙස් ,අනාගත විය හැකි දේ වැනි අදහස් දැක්වීමේදී මෙම රටාව භාවිතා කරයි.

If you ask George, he may/might be able to help you.

ඔයා ජොර්ජ්ගෙන් ඇහුවොත් ඔහුට සමහරවිට ඔයාට උදව් කරන්න හැකි වේවි.

You can/may leave the room if you've finished the test.

ඔයාට යන්න පුලුවන් ඔයා විභාගය ඉවර කරලා නම්.

If he doesn't come soon, we must leave without him.
